Saying Good Riddance to PVC
We're phasing out PVC (polyvinyl chloride) from our custom offerings. In another move that aligns with their commitment to social responsibility and the growing global shift towards responsible manufacturing, TPD will be looking to persuade clients to use alternative materials to PVC material.
PVC is a type of plastic with a long list of environmental downsides. Its production releases harmful toxins, and it's known to be difficult to recycle. When PVC ends up in landfills, it can take hundreds of years to decompose, leaving harmful chemicals into the surrounding soil and potentially contaminating water sources.
In December, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) started a review of PVC plastic production in that could eventually lead to the end of PVC plastic production in the US. This would add the US to a host of countries who have already banned PVC. While we anticipate te EPAs review to take some time, there is no question that using such materials in branded goods for any organization is a terrible representation of a brand.

As we say goodbye to PVC, we're moving towards a more eco-friendly alternative: TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane). It's known for its durability, flexibility, and recyclability. Additionally, the production process of TPU generates significantly fewer harmful emissions, making it a more sustainable choice overall.
A Global Movement Towards Sustainability
We aren't alone when it comes to eliminating PVC from our current processes! A growing number of countries around the world are implementing bans or restrictions on PVC due to its environmental impact. Manufacturers are also increasingly recognizing the importance of sustainability and are developing innovative new materials like TPU that offer similar functionality with a reduced environmental footprint.
At The Promotions Dept., we believe that small changes can lead to big results. By phasing out PVC and choosing eco-friendly alternatives like TPU, we're taking a step towards a more sustainable future for our planet. We're committed to continuously exploring, staying informed, and implementing environmentally conscious practices.
